Mark Arpag is an award-winning Bonsai Artist who lives in Rochester, NY. He is a long-time active member and current President of the Bonsai Society of Upstate NY. He is also the co-founder and organizer of the Suiseki Study Group of Upstate NY. Mark presents demonstrations and workshops where he freely shares his knowledge and passion for Bonsai with others. He also has several study groups and private clients. His love of nature leads him to collect trees and stones in New York State which he often combines to create distinctive award-winning displays. Mark often assists William N. Valavanis in teaching and organizing exhibitions. He also enjoys designing and installing all of the Welcome Gardens, that greet visitors from around the world, at the US National Bonsai Exhibition. Mark has a passion for Native Bonsai and Stones. Shohin Bonsai and Bonsai displays are of interest to him and he spends a considerable amount of time studying and practicing displaying Shohin Bonsai. He has a large and fine quality collection of Shohin Bonsai as well as larger size trees. He has won National Awards for his Eastern White Cedar, Balsam Fir, and Larch. Mark has displayed Bonsai at the Artisans Cup, the Pacific Expo, 8 US National Exhibitions, 3 entries in the 2024 Pacific Expo, and the Winter Silhouette in North Carolina!
