Joy of Bonsai 2022 Recap

Our three day event, held February 18th – 20th, was a big success according to our attendees! A number of attendees remarked positively on the camaraderie that exists within our membership.
Here is a short, bulleted recap of our event:

  • Sean Smith, a well know and respected bonsai artist, was our headliner. Sean lead 4 workshops and a critique of the bonsai exhibit.
  • Our membership helped create a world class exhibit with their trees.
  • We had 4 demonstrations lead by local Florida Bonsai artists.
  • Joy of Bonsai was the host site for the district 6 BSF Scholarship Styling Contest. The winner of the Styling Contest was our own Kevin Richardson, who now will be competing at the BSF Convention against the winners of the other BSF districts to become the state champion.
  • Raffles, silent and live auctions were held and was a good fundraiser for us.
  • UCF student, Daniel Conti, interviewed and filmed during the event for the documentary he is producing named “The Art and Significance of Bonsai”.
  • There were six Florida Bonsai Clubs in attendance at Joy of Bonsai 2022.
